My son a living miracle

Standard

Finally got back home this last Saturday from Arkansas Children’s hospital. This time it was for a brain infection… On the 6th I took Colton to the ER for a 101.7 fever and irritability. Well, turned out that yes, he had a brain infection. They took out shunt and placed a temporary drain in. And on the 14th he had an MRI to see if he was a candidate to get an etv (endoscopy third ventriculostomy). Well he was! So they immediately took him in and did the surgery (his third brain surgery in a month!) and revised his tongue tie as well. Spent almost two weeks there this go around. Now we have to play the wait and see game to see if it works. If not we will have to go in again to have another shunt placed. Only been home for four days but I keep worrying if we’ll have to go back in for another round of worries. Sometimes I believe that this will be my life and that we will become frequent flyers. No seriously though, Colton has been in a helicopter twice. I’ve been in a helicopter once and an airplane all to Arkansas Children’s hospital. I try and keep my hopes up but it is hard. I’m just lucky I have some great friends and family to help us throughout these hard times and you know who you are.

Another day another surgery

Standard

Colton had surgery this last Monday, brain surgery. Up today he has had three major surgeries. He had a shunt placed to help drain off the excess CSF (Cerebral Spinal Fluid.) Today he’s doing a lot better only needing a pain reliever once, thank goodness. Three more weeks and we’ll be getting a check up. On the 1st Colton also has a GI appointment to check up on his liver. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

DIY Mommy

The days are getting colder and we can finally escape the restraint’s of the house! Here in Arkansas, the humidity can make it feel 10 even 20 degrees hotter! I’ve been trying to keep my mind off Colton’s next MRI, he may need a shunt soon…

Well, I’ve been keeping my mind off the craziness by delving into the world of DIY. So far this week I have made a baby carrier out of 3 t-shirts and a ribbon. I even put up a picture. I’m working on finishing my hem on my new baby wrap out of a 100% cotton skirt. Next I will make one out of a bed sheet!

So now that im turning into a crafty, healthy hippie mommy…I feel like its not enough…

I feel that sometimes im not doing enough for my family even though im so tired waking up. I say this after I did another load of laundry and cleaning up the house after everyone had fallen asleep. Its the only time I have to keep it clean longer than a few minutes!

So as I sit here thinking to myself I wonder how next month will turn out at Colton’s MRI. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as always.

Finally settling in

Standard

For the past few days I have finally seen that even the kids are more at peace then the first day we brought Colton home. Colton’s MRI went great over his head and soon we’ll know more on his liver.

Colton is over 12 pounds now! He’s smiling, cooing, and receiving so much love from all of us.

A wonderful lady, owner of

Zippy Hippie Mama sent the kids and I our very own amber necklaces. They are so beautiful!!!

Looking back again

Standard

Colton is doing great! He’s been smiling off and on for the past week. Haven’t posted much due to not having Internet for a week. And then my internal battery on my iPad died so I had to replace it. Overall life is looking better for us. Cory and I have agreed that its essential for us to move in the next 6 months. So here we go to saving money! Colton still has millions of doctor appointments for the next couple months but were managing.

Two dear friends of mine are sending me a bundle of cloth diaper’s for Cheyenne and Colton. I couldn’t believe it at first but they are the most dearest angels on earth. I recently found out Colton is allergic to disposable diapers (or pampers anyways) and I’ve been forced to let him air dry as wrapping him in receiving blankets is a bit hard to do lol. It works for Cheyenne but she’s older and I can only fold them so much.

Anyways, we have had a pretty stressful month. My mother in law and brother in law have made it an almost Wait no a definite hell here. Since Colton has been home we’ve only been focusing on the kids and us, but apparently that’s not how it’s supposed to be. The past couple days have been ok….I just wish we could move sooner into our own place again. The reason we moved in with each other is because my mother in law borrowed money all the time and we weren’t able to afford anything so we figured it’d be easier if we lived together? No…it didn’t.

But that’s ok. I just have too much on my plate to worry about what they think of me. The only people I want to think good of me are my wonderful children and my husband!

Colton weighed in at 10 pounds 12 oz yesterday! Just Monday he was 10 pounds 6 1/2 oz. His head circumference is still gong up but very slowly and we are just so happy he’s home!
And they tested his blood to check his vitamin levels. If they look good then that’s three vitamins a day he won’t have to take!

This is him last week 🙂
